The “ATUV” sample shows signs of microstructural degradation – including numerous visible surface damages such as cracks, deformations and flaking of cuticles, leading to significant lifting of the cuticle from the hair cortex. The surface is irregular, with areas of collapse, indicating thermal weakening of the hair structure and loss of cuticle continuity and texture. The cuticle structure appears reduced, indicating thermal and mechanical breakdown of keratin. Brittle fractures and fragmentation are visible, confirming that exposure to high temperatures and UV radiation without protection compromises hair integrity.

Hair from the “BTUV” sample maintains a more cohesive structure and appears less deformed. The cuticle layers remain distinguishable and structurally preserved compared to the unprotected sample. The surface appears smoother and continuous, without significant thermal damage – indicating that the protective mask prevents deformation caused by heat and UV radiation.
