What is the difference between a pure peptide and a complex?

You can read this text in 8 minutes.

This cosmetic raw material has delighted the market with its unique blue color and excellent action. Surely you have already heard about copper peptide, but do you know how to choose a formulation that will meet your expectations?

Copper peptide carries a huge number of benefits and a very broad spectrum of action, in addition, it can be used on all skin types. It will work well for both anti-aging and prevention and antioxidation, and also as a skin calming substance.

Copper peptide – properties

Copper peptide will be both a great guiding ingredient in your care and an addition to take it to the next level.

  • Remodels the skin – remodels and increases its thickness (in addition, it degrades old cells that give way to new ones). Shows anti-wrinkle effects and improves skin density.
  • Stimulates skin repair and regeneration processes – Improves injury healing and skin barrier function.
  • It is an excellent antioxidant – dethrones free radicals and supports morning sunscreen application.
  • It has a distinctive blue color, which it also broadcasts to the masses, which will be relevant later in this post.

There is no denying that it is a very expensive cosmetic raw material, so products containing copper peptide will have a higher price. At the same time, you may notice that manufacturers boast of seemingly low concentrations of this raw material. However, this is an incorrect assumption, low concentrations show active action – as little as 0.1% will carry a positive effect on the skin (this applies only to copper peptides that have not been placed in the capsules, in this case it looks different). This is where the age-old race between cosmetic brands – who will give more – and the internal struggle of the consumer over which product to choose – begins.

What is the difference between pure copper peptide and the complex?

Knowing the answer to this question can help you make an informed choice when shopping. As you read this post, remember that a cosmetic manufacturer has absolutely no obligation to indicate the cosmetic concentrations used – this is solely his goodwill. Many companies are taking this step because of increased consumer awareness, but also to emphasize brand transparency, or for marketing purposes.

However, this does not mean that cosmetics without stated concentrations are inferior to those with a visible percentage on the label. In my opinion, however, it is worth boasting about the used concentration of such an expensive and effective raw material! In turn, customers should and should be educated that therapeutic doses are often much lower than they may seem.

Pure copper peptide is pure raw material without additives, the concentration of which can be directly indicated on the package. Copper peptide in its pure form is a dark blue powder. If you are looking for a serum with a certain concentration of this ingredient, you may notice that on many products there is a posted percentage of pure copper peptides.

What is copper peptide complex?

Here we are no longer talking about the concentration of pure copper peptide, but one placed in the complex, accompanied by other cosmetic ingredients. Such complexes can contain the widest variety of ingredients, and are a common activity in the cosmetic world – they contain other active ingredients, and sometimes water or stabilizers.

Given the percentage of the complex, it is no longer obvious the concentration of the active ingredient in question. If you see a ceramide serum (also an expensive ingredient) on a store shelf with a 5% concentration of ceramides, or even 10% at a suspiciously low double-digit price – I can guarantee you that there is a complex whose total concentration is 5-10%, and the concentration of pure ceramide will be, for example, 0.1%.

I emphasize that low concentration of the active ingredient does not necessarily mean low activity of the finished product – this is just to emphasize that, for example, 0.5% pure copper peptides does not equal 0.5% of the copper peptide complex.

Again, I want to point out that raw materials in capsules, carriers, liposomes – are out of this category and comparison of concentrations, because it is possible to achieve a much stronger effect at a lower concentration of pure raw material, thanks to the inclusion in the carrier.

Innovative copper peptides encapsulated in proprietary formulations

In Veoli Botanica products, we indicate the percentage of pure raw material, without excipients. Thanks to the full transparency of the compositions, you gain confidence in the value of your investment in our cosmetics.

What sets it apart from other products is certainly its unique cream-mask formula, as well as its high concentration of anti-gravity peptide 2%, which provides a lifting effect and raises the oval of the face, and biomimetic signal peptide 1% botox-like encapsulated in liposomes, which protects the epidermis from oxidative stress-induced DNA damage and the skin from chronological and environmental aging, as well as neutralizes free radicals and strengthens the skin's antioxidant capacity.

A creamy formula with no heaviness, it deeply moisturizes, leaving a satin finish and an immediate tightening effect. Easy spreading consistency makes application extremely fast and pleasant. Absorbs perfectly without leaving a sticky layer on the skin.

SAPPHIRE AGE-DEFINER it is designed for daily use and can be used in two ways – as a lifting day cream, instead of the standard cream or in the form of a lifting mask at night, that is, a firming treatment to enhance the results.

The mask-cream is designed for all skin types, including dry and sensitive.

Both products do not contain dyes or malachite, which are added to obtain the desired color. The characteristic blue tint of the products was achieved by using pure copper peptide.

How to choose the best serum with peptides – tips from a cosmetologist

It is worthwhile that the copper peptide is accompanied by other components, for example, complexes of other peptides, moisturizing ingredients, or stimulating.

Your valuable tip for choosing a product with a high concentration of pure copper peptide will also be the color of the finished mass. The copper peptide has a dark blue color, which also colors the cosmetic. This color will vary depending on the accompanying ingredients or consistency (a completely different color will be obtained by an aqueous serum than by an emulsion), but ultimately it is impossible for a product containing 0.5% pure copper peptide to be white, or completely transparent.

Note yet the other end of the scale, that is, the raw materials that turn up the color of the cosmetic. In the INCI formulation look out for dyes – their recognition is very simple, it will be the notation of the CI and a sequence of numbers. CI is Color Index, and numbers are assigned to specific colors. For example, the color blue can be written as CI 42090, the yellow CI 15985, or CI 47005, and the red CI 15850. You don't have to remember these numbers after typing in the search engine, you can easily find the name of the color.

PS This is also a a tip for allergy sufferers when looking for other cosmetics, not just those with copper peptides. If you are struggling with numerous reactions to various cosmetics, pay attention to the absence of dyes – these are among the common allergens.

In addition, the composition may include other raw materials that color the mass, which are not dyes. In the INCI composition, look for malachite extract, which also has a characteristic blue color and is used precisely to boost the color of the finished mass.
