How self-tanner tans?
You may be surprised, but "tanning" with bronzing products is a reaction... sugar with protein!
What is DHA and how does it affect the skin?
DHA (Dihydroxyacetone) is a colorless sugar that "tans" the body by reacting with cells in the outer layer of the epidermis. In our case, it is extracted from sugar beets and sugar cane. Gives the effect of a golden, caramel tan!
The skin darkening process occurs due to a chemical reaction between DHA and amino acids present in the stratum corneum. The effect usually begins to be visible 1-2 hours after application, and full darkening appears after about 6 hours.
The resulting tan cannot be removed with water – it fades only by natural exfoliation of the epidermis or by mechanical action (such as peeling). Its durability depends on the rate at which the skin regenerates.
Erythrulose – the way to an even tan
Erythrulose is also a sugar that darkens the skin without exposing it to harmful UV rays. It is a small molecule consisting of four carbon atoms that reacts with amines in skin proteins. As a result of this process, the skin gradually acquires a tanned color.
Compared to the popular DHA, erythrulose works more slowly – the first effects usually appear about 24 hours after application. This gradual darkening of the skin reduces the risk of streaking and uneven skin tone, providing a natural, uniform tanning effect.

When applying, apply a thinner layer of the cosmetic to your elbows, knees and ankles – these areas like to appear darker when applying bronzing products, so pay extra attention to them.
The time the foam is left on determines the intensity of the effect. You will notice the first results after just an hour, and the best – after a whole night! For sustained results, repeat application every 3-4 days. Do not apply other products to your skin immediately after applying the foam.
