How to properly perform two-step cleansing?

Two-step cleansing is a trending topic for a reason. This cleansing regimen, I have been suggesting to my clients for years and I have found it to be the most effective. Get to know it up close and see why it works!

What matters in skin care is quality of active ingredients and regularity, but no product will bring the desired results if the skin is not properly cleansed, and the beneficial raw materials settle on a layer of sebum, dirt, makeup residues, or dead skin.

Oils and butters in facial care sometimes stir up a lot of emotions, especially for skins prone to clogging, combination and oily skins. What if I told you that this is one of the easiest ways to prevent blackheads?

The skin secretes various substances, as a result of metabolic processes, but also to protect it. The water-based ones are not much of a problem to remove, but the sebum, responsible m.in. for shining during the day - is a fatty mixture. And yet this is not the end of the impurities you face during the day, starting with those collecting on your skin from the environment, ending with those you apply yourself.

To sunscreen had the best possible protection, it is important to create a uniform, durable film that is resistant to external agents - however, this makes it more difficult to remove (did you know that the filters are fat-soluble ingredients?). The same is true of makeup, so that it can last on the skin all day, it often contains waterproof ingredients to improve durability, which means that washing it off in the evening can be much more difficult.

Strong detergents, such as SLS (INCI: Sodium Lauryl Sulfate), or SLES (INCI: Sodium Laureth Sulfate), are able to cleanse the skin of persistent and oily pollutants, but they very adversely affect the hydrolipid barrier, which can lead to irritation, dehydration and even excessive oiliness, or increased imperfections.

This is where oils and butters for makeup removal. Perfectly and easily combine with grease-based impurities, sebum, sunscreen creams, or makeup (on the principle of like dissolves into like, fats mix with other fats).

It is important that the composition of such a product include emulsifier, which will make the oil in combination with water to form an emulsion and easily wash off the skin, minimizing the risk of imperfections.

Emulsifying makeup remover butter and SPF MELT WITH PASSION will be the ideal first step of a two-step skin cleansing. The formula of the butter makes it melt under the influence of heat, velvety wrapping the skin, and after contact with water it turns into a milky emulsion. With this, effectively removes waterproof makeup - also eyes, long-lasting foundations, sunscreens (even waterproof ones!), excess sebum and residual impurities that have accumulated on the skin during the day.

The whole thing should be washed with with a water-based product - your favorite with a mild gel or emulsion that will remove residual impurities and refresh the skin. This allows for the most effective cleansing of the skin, without irritation, violation of the hydrolipid barrier or rubbing, which is especially important for sensitive, vascular and acne-prone skins.

You have oily, combination, or highly clog-prone skin and are afraid of oil formulations?

Thanks to a carefully selected composition of ingredients, the formula MELT WITH PASSION does not clog pores, and the butter is suitable for all skin types - including oily skin and skin with imperfections. In addition, it does not leave an oily layer on the skin.

Blackhead is nothing more than a mixture of dead epidermal cells and sebaceous gland secretions - that is, simply dead epidermis combined with sebum, sebum. A short massage of the blackheaded area warms up the skin slightly and liquefies the top layer of sebum contained in the blackhead, which is combined with oil, or butter, and the top of the blackhead is gradually removed.

Most of my subjects, after the introduction of an oil or makeup remover butter, combined with the appropriate active ingredients, notice a reduced visibility of blackheads already approx. 3 weeks. The aforementioned massage is literally a minute, nothing to disrupt or complicate your daily skincare routine.

So how to properly cleanse the skin in two stages?

1. Wash and dry your hands thoroughly. Remember to always touch your skin with clean hands, especially if you are struggling with imperfections or, for example, are often accompanied by infections in the eye area (barley, chalazion).

2. On your dry hands, apply your favorite oil or butter with emulsifier, gently warm up the product and apply to dry facial skin. Focus on areas where you wear more makeup (eyelashes, eyebrows, lipstick on the lips) and areas where you notice increased blackheads and massage the skin for about a minute. Pay special attention to the wings of the nose, temples, hairline and chin - these are the areas most often overlooked when removing makeup.

3. Wet your hands with water, emulsify the product on your face to form a milky emulsion and massage your skin again. Wash the whole thing off with lukewarm water.

4. Apply your favorite gel or emulsion to damp hands and lather gently before applying to face. Massage again for about a minute.

5. Wash the whole thing off with lukewarm water and gently squeeze the water off, avoiding rubbing the skin.

It really is that simple!

If you are just starting your adventure with makeup remover oils and butters and you do not feel confident washing off the eye area, you can help yourself with a reusable cotton pad. Simply, while massaging, wipe your eyelashes with a dry pad and, if necessary, massage the area again to completely dissolve the product. I found this step very helpful in the beginning, especially when washing off very long-lasting, waterproof mascara.

If the tests of various makeup remover products are behind you and you don't feel love for this way, nevertheless keep the two-step during cleansing to properly remove impurities from the skin. Apply a water-based product twice, it can be an emulsion, a gel, or both. Massage your face with the cleanser for about a minute, wash off with lukewarm water and repeat this step.
