5 skin care myths that can harm your complexion!

You can read this article in 4 minutes.
Did you know that myths that have been repeated for years can lead to faulty skin care habits and skin problems? Sometimes it's outdated information, other times the effects of marketing slogans that mislead. At Veoli Botanica, we focus on education. We believe that sharing knowledge is the best way to dispel false beliefs - skin care should first and foremost be effective and tailored to the needs of the skin!
MYTH 1: Oily skin doesn't need moisturizing
Facts: Oily skin can also be dehydrated, and a lack of proper hydration only makes things worse! When the skin does not receive enough water, it begins to produce even more sebum, leading to excessive shine and even imperfections. Oily skin needs to be moisturized, but go for lightweight formulas that won't weigh it down. Products containing ceramides i salicylic acid will be necessary to take care of the balance of the hydrolipid barrier, hydration and regulation of sebum secretion.
Regenerating and rebuilding cream with ceramides NP, AP and EOP, cholesterol and fatty acids CERAMIDE SKIN BARRIER rich in up to three types of plant ceramides has a rebuilding, moisturizing and soothing effect. Strongly regenerates, strengthens the natural hydrolipidic barrier of the epidermis, helps replenish the skin's cellular cement and prevents the feeling of tightness. It will be an excellent choice for dry, sensitive, dehydrated skin as well as irritated and acne-prone skin.
On the other hand, for acne-prone, oily and combination skin, we recommend the following night cream with salicylic acid BHA 1.5% OVERNIGHT BHA TREATMENT - indispensable in the care of skin prone to imperfections and blackheads! Salicylic acid 1.5% reduces problematic skin lesions and reduces redness, while ALPAFLOR® ALP®-SEBUM 2% (organic prebiotic from alpine willow) normalizes sebum secretion and reduces the appearance of pores.
Why it's important? Proper care for oily skin is not about blocking sebum production, but moisturizing in a way that will reduce excess sebum and keep the skin in a healthy balance.
MYTH 2: You don't need to wash your face in the morning, just rinse it with water
Facts: The skin is constantly working, even while you sleep. Secretes sebum, regenerates and removes dead skin cells. Water alone is not enough to remove these contaminants. Morning cleansing is key to remove the residue of evening care, refresh the skin and prepare it for the morning routine.
Expert Tip: For morning cleansing, it is advisable to use mild preparations – emulsion or gel, which will take care of the hydrolipidic layer of the skin with natural care. Good cleansing is the basis of daily care, which will keep the skin fresh and prepare it for the application of subsequent products.
- For all skin types, especially dry and mature skin – an excellent choice will be milk facial cleansing emulsion MAKE IT CLEAR
- For normal and combination skin – cleansing and refreshing face wash gel CLEAN ME UP
- For dry and sensitive skin – moisturizing and soothing face wash gel CLEANING ME SOFTLY
- For acne-prone, oily and combination skin – deep cleansing facial cleansing gel with active green tea extract with EGCG, prebiotic from chicory and agave and ALPAFLOR® ALP®-SEBUM DEEPLY PORE CLEANSING GEL
MYTH 3: SPF sunscreens are only needed in summer
Facts: UV radiation accompanies us all year round – not only in summer, but also on cloudy days or in winter. This popular myth can seriously harm your skin. UVA rays penetrate clouds and glass, and they are responsible for photoaging of the skin, the formation of hyperpigmentation and the risk of developing skin cancer. That's why applying SPF cream should be your daily skincare habit – regardless of the season.
Expert Tip: Sun protection is the best prevention against premature skin aging and hyperpigmentation. Even if you can't see the sun, your skin is still exposed to harmful rays!
Recommended product: Broad-spectrum lightweight anti-photo-aging moisturizing and soothing cream SPF 50+, UVA, UVB, PA++++, HEV/IR BUT FIRST, SUNSCREEN provides comprehensive protection against UVB, UVA, HEV and IR radiation.
Ingredients that take care of your skin:
- Trehalose – naturally occurring saccharide, exhibits moisturizing and anti-aging properties.
- Vitamin E – protects the complexion from antioxidant stress.
- Phytic acid – antioxidant, helps protect the skin from the adverse effects of UV radiation.
- Barley starch – provides a satin-matte finish, smooths skin texture and improves the comfort of product application.
- Complex of Asian basil, spotted thistle and green algae – soothes skin irritation and reduces redness.
- Bird's chickweed extract – natural extract rich in flavonoids, has a strong anti-photo-aging effect.
MYTH 4: Your skin can get used to cosmetics, so you have to constantly change products
Facts: The skin does not "get used" to cosmetics if they work for their intended purpose. When a product produces positive results, there is no need to change it. Regularity and consistency in care guarantee the best results – but remember that some active ingredients need more time to reveal their full potential of action, so the results will not be visible immediately.
When a change of cosmetics is necessary? Change is a good decision when the needs of the skin change, for example, depending on the season, the level of hydration, hormonal changes or health conditions, such as pregnancy. However, it does not mean the need to constantly replace products.
MYTH 5: The more cosmetics, the better the care
Facts: Excess cosmetics can work on your skin in the opposite way to the desired effects. Too many products applied at once can weigh down the skin and lead to irritation, as well as disrupt its natural protective barrier. Effective care is not about quantity, but about the quality of products that meet the specific needs of the skin. Believe that neither your skin nor your beautician need dozens of cosmetics – just the right ones will suffice.
Why it's important? In skin care, it is crucial to match products to the current needs of the skin. Instead of reaching for more cosmetics, it is advisable to focus on those that will provide your skin with what it really needs.
